The Rademacher family lived out north and west of Tieton. Pete went to elementary and Junior high school in Tieton but his father sent him and his brother Johnny off to high school in Tennessee. He returned to attend Yakima Valley College and Washington State College in Pullman.

He was a golden glove fighter nearly his entire youth winning many titles. In 1956 he was on the United States Olympic Team and was a gold medalist in the heavyweight class in Melbourne, Australia knocking out his Russian opponent. He was the only amateur boxer to fight first professionally for the heavy weight championship of the world. He fought 23 professional bouts winning 15 eight by knockouts, he lost seven and fought one draw.

He was best known by those close to him for being a real gentlemen.
